纽约州北亨普斯特德 – 北亨普斯特德镇议员Christine Liu自豪地宣布,她将与 Ohana Paddling Association (OPA)合作,于10 月 4 日在北亨普斯特德海滩公园共同举办北亨普斯特德首届龙舟与水灯节。
这场充满活力的庆典将融合古老的中国传统、竞技的激情与社区精神。活动当天将以激动人心的龙舟竞赛拉开序幕,这项有着 2000 多年历史的传统运动,最多 20 名划手同舟竞渡,伴随着鼓点的节奏奋力挥桨,在水面上呈现出一场令人热血沸腾的视觉盛宴。
当夜幕降临,庆典将转向庆祝中秋佳节——这是中国文化中最珍贵的传统节日之一。参与者将有机会亲手装饰、点亮并放漂流灯,象征着和平、希望与团结。这一优美的仪式将为充满激情与活力的一天画上温馨而有意义的句号。
活动当天还将呈现丰富的文化表演,包括传统的舞龙舞狮、现场音乐、适合家庭的艺术和手工活动,以及由本地商家和餐车提供的各式亚洲美食。活动内容精彩纷呈,老少皆宜。

The Port Washington community is proud to field a dragon boat team this year. To prepare for the competition, our 16 dedicated athletes have been training several hours each week amidst their busy schedules. They brave the sun, push their limits, and strive to represent Port Washington with the highest level of teamwork and spirit, showcasing the vitality and unity of our community!

North Hempstead, NY – North Hempstead Town Councilwoman Christine Liu is proud to announce she is partnering with the Ohana Paddling Association to host North Hempstead’s inaugural Dragon Boat & Lantern Festival at North Hempstead Beach Park on October 4th.
This vibrant celebration brings together ancient Chinese traditions, athletic excitement, and community spirit. The day will kick off with thrilling dragon boat races, a centuries-old tradition dating back over 2,000 years. Teams of up to 20 paddlers will race in long, colorful boats to the rhythmic beat of a drum, creating an exhilarating spectacle on the water.
As evening falls, the celebration will shift to honor the Mid-Autumn Festival, one of the most cherished holidays in Chinese culture. Attendees will have the opportunity to decorate, light, and release floating lanterns on the water, symbolizing peace, hope, and unity. This beautiful ceremony will provide a peaceful and meaningful close to a day of high energy and festivity.
The event will also feature a full lineup of cultural performances, including traditional Dragon and Lion Dances, live music, family-friendly arts and crafts, and an array of delicious Asian cuisine from local vendors and food trucks. There’s truly something for all ages to enjoy!
