纵情端午 Duan Wu Jie

Port Washington Chinese Community first Duan Wu celebration at PWPL was held on June 1st 2024.

Port Washington Chinese Community’s first Duan Wu ( 端午 or Dragon Boat festival) event was successfully held on June 1st 2024 at Port Washington Public Library.

We prepared and provided interesting hands-on activities to friends and children who participated the event.

Volunteers gave step-by-step demonstrations of how to wrap Zong Zi (粽子). Three different types of Zong Zi filling were provided, and participants did the hands-on practice of warping their own Zong Zi and also brought Zong Zi back home.

Receipts of how to make and cook Zong Zi were given to participants for future reference.

Youth activities includes making paper Long Zhou ( 龙舟 or Dragon Boat), paper Zong Zi , watching Long Zhou Racing ( 龙舟比赛 or Dragon Boat Racing)

We are so honored to have North Hempstead Town Councilwoman Christine Liu and Mariann Dalimonte in our event

At the end of the event, all volunteers, friends and children tasted the cooked Zong Zi that they made by themselves.
