Who We Are?

The Greater Port Washington Chinese American Association (“ GPWCAA”) is a non-profit organization for all Chinese American residents of greater Port Washington area, and for all friends and residents who share the same views as GPWCAA and are interested to join GPWCAA without considering where they live or who they are.

The GPWCAA is founded in 2024, and is organized exclusively for charitable and educational purposes under the New York Not-for-Profit Corporation Law.

Our Mission

The mission of GPWCAA is truly inspiring as it aims to celebrate and share the rich tapestry of Chinese culture, particularly with the younger generation.

By nurturing a deep appreciation for traditions, values, and arts, GPWCAA not only preserves heritage but also cultivates a sense of pride and unity among youth. Their efforts play a vital role in fostering cultural understanding and bridging communities through the beauty of Chinese heritage.

What We Do

Organize and sponsor cultural events, workshops, and festivals to celebrate and share Chinese culture, traditions, and history with the broader community. This includes but not limited to language classes, traditional performances, and cultural exhibitions.

Foster a supportive and connected community for Chinese Americans by providing networking opportunities, mentorship programs, and resources for mutual assistance.

Create programs that help Chinese American youth connect with their heritage, including language classes, cultural activities, and leadership development opportunities.

Advocate for the rights and interests of Chinese Americans in local government and community organizations, ensuring their voices are heard and represented in decision-making processes. Facilitate communication between parents and the school district to enhance the focus on academic education and address the community’s educational needs.

Promote intercultural understanding and exchange through joint events, dialogues, and collaborative projects with other cultural groups, fostering a more inclusive and harmonious community.
